WP Limit Posts Automatically
2007-12-03 @ 17:00Is there a way to limit posts in WordPress? You can always use the more-tag and if you use it you can manually insert a break-point to cut your posts where you like. What if you want to do it automatically? Then this plugin is the answer. You can choose where it should limit your posts (home, category, archive and search). You also have some other features, for example to choose the limit method (cut by letter, word or paragraph).

Install
- Upload wp-limit-posts-automatically.php to the
/wp-content/plugins/wp-limit-posts-automatically directory. - Activate the plugin WP Limit Posts Automatically through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
- Go to ‘Options / Limit Posts Options’ for options and more instructions.
History
Why did I make this? I almost always forgot to put a more-tag into my posts and at first I created some quick fix for it at my own website. At the time I didn’t found any good plugin for it. I still havn’t found the perfect plugin for this so I created my own.

- Updated with a new option, ”strip tags” to avoid code errors when cut through letter or word.

Thank you for the nice plug-in. I am a complete novice and I wonder if it is possible to show 2 paragraphs instead of 1. If it is possible, could you please tell me what I should change in which file? I really don’t know anything. If possible, please tell me exactly what code to insert in which line of which file.

I really like this plugin. I actually prefer it to the_excerpt(); I only have one problem with it. I have some short posts that are only a single paragraph long in which I don’t want the plugin to touch. It would be nice if this plugin would put an option into the post creation area that I could tick in order disable the plugin for that particular post. The Sociable plugin at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sociable/ has this ability.

Hallo,
I was wondering if there’s a way to disable the [caption] [/caption] tags as well??
So far it doesn’t look good on the site I’m working on that it displays these [caption]xxxx[/caption] tags in my excerpts.

Now, wordpress is going to version 3.x. it is possible to be used? are u going to update it? how about made a little bit change in Option from”First paragraph (recommended)” to ”The paragraph you like (recommended)”.

When i look search or catagory page, the sidebar is showing above content. I thing your plugin adding extra div tag and the page is display wrongly. Can you help about this error.

Hello
I love your plugin, however I have 10 sites and on a couple I lose the sidebar on left hand side with contents going to bottom of page land have to deactivate plugin to get it back. I would dearly love to use it on all my domains so is there a fix for this or perhaps a patch. I would really appreciate a reply. Thankyou for your time

Love this plugin. Instead of stripping article images, is there a way it can pull in a thumbnail size image of the article’s main image?
